Airfield Operations Technician
Department: Airport Maintenance
Job Title: Airfield Maintenance and Operations Technician
Salary Range: $14.00 – $16.00 per hour Non-exempt. Full-Time
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend shifts required.
(Will be on-call after hours to respond to emergencies)
This position is considered essential to the operation of the Airport. Extended hours may be required to serve the needs of the Columbus Airport beyond regular business hours during Airport Emergencies, Government-issued states of emergency, weather events, public health emergencies, and/or pandemics. Temporary duties outside of regularly assigned jobs may be required to fill the needs of the Columbus Airport.

Responsibilities:
This is a skilled position that requires attention to detail, flexibility, a strong personal work ethic, the ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, bend squat, stoop, reach overhead, push, pull for extended periods. Must be capable of lifting at least 75 lbs. This position performs daily airfield inspections including movement and non-movement areas and perimeter fences. This position operates a variety of vehicles, tractors, mowers, cutters, and other outdoor equipment. This position is responsible for applying herbicide and pesticide using a variety of hand-held sprayers and mechanical equipment. This position has no Supervisory or Budgetary responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Airfield Operations Supervisor while working alongside other Airfield Maintenance Specialists.
Principle Duties:
· Documents, reports, and repairs airport-owned NAVAID including lights, signs, and windsocks.
· Rehabilitates, cleans, repairs, and re-marks pavement using a variety of hand tools and machinery.
· Reports and documents the presence of wildlife on the airfield.
· Conducts and documents daily CFR Part 139 inspections on the airfield.
· Conducts FOD removal operations using a variety of machinery and equipment.
· Operates power equipment and heavy machinery as required in the maintenance of airport-owned buildings, grounds, roadways, runways, taxiways, and aircraft aprons and ramps.
· Performs routine and preventative maintenance on various airport equipment and vehicles.
· Performs custodial duties as required.
· Escorts contractors, vendors, and probationary workers.
· Performs other duties as required and assigned by Management.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Thorough knowledge of low voltage and high voltage airfield electrical systems, signs, and lights.
· Proactive solutions-based troubleshooting skills.
· Skilled in the operation of grounds equipment and heavy machinery.
· Skilled in the operation of herbicide mixing and application.
· Skilled in basic fencing repair methods.
· Thorough knowledge of wildlife mitigation techniques and methods.
· Thorough knowledge of airport safety, CFR Part 139, and operational procedures.
· Basic knowledge of carpentry, welding, mechanics, roofing, plumbing, and electrical repair.
· Thorough knowledge of preventive maintenance and cleaning of all equipment used in the execution of daily duties.
· Ability to read, comprehend, understand, and comply with both oral and written instructions.
· Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret procedures in technical manuals and repair manuals.
· Ability to determine when pavement conditions of runways and taxiways meet safety standards.
· Ability to effectively and safely perform two-way communications with air traffic controllers and pilots using FAA-approved phonetic alphabet, terminology, and language.
Education and Experience:
· One to three years prior experience in related fields is required.
· High School Diploma or GED is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
· Georgia or Alabama State Driver’s License and CLEAN MVR. Ability to be an insured driver for the Airport. (REQUIRED)
· Airport Wildlife Hazard Management Certification (Required within 12 months)
· Basic ASOS Airfield Safety and Operations School (Preferred)
· Airfield Pavement and Markings Certification Course (Preferred)
· AAAE A.C.E. Airfield Lighting or A.C.E. Operations (Preferred)

OVERVIEW: Under the direction of the Hospitality Supervisor, the Hospitality Team Member works under a firm schedule determined by the daily commercial airline flight schedule and will be assigned duties based on a zone schedule using a daily checklist. Hospitality Team Members are required to work as part of a team or with no direction for early morning and late evening schedules. This role requires sound knowledge of cleaning procedures, cleaning chemicals, cleaning equipment and safety standards, along with strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and exceptional customer service skills. This position is full-time and includes weekends and holidays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the terminal, parking lots and other areas as assigned.
- Event Coordination: Assist in the set-up and breakdown of meetings, training courses, conferences, community events held at the airport (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and marketing events held at the airport.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with customers and provide wayfinding assistance.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices. Share insights and recommendations with the team to drive improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Daily sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in terminal including gate, Admin, FAA, etc.
- Clean restrooms and lavatories including sinks, toilets, urinals, and showers.
- Clean escalator rails, sweep elevators and wipe down buttons
- Clean and wash windows, mirrors, and other glass.
- Disinfect water fountains, sinks, and all stainless steel.
- Rinse and clean indoor and outdoor pet relief areas.
- Clean administration breakroom to include, refrigerator, microwave, counters, floors, etc.
- Trash Removal:
- Sweep and/or remove litter and debris from sidewalks, public areas and parking lots.
- Empty and clean garbage containers in the terminal and pay parking lots while ensuring proper disposal of waste according to established guidelines.
- Laundering:
- Wash, dry, fold, and store cleaning towels and cloths.
- Stocking Supplies:
- Ensure that necessary supplies such as toilet paper, sanitary products, soap, paper towels, and other necessary products are stocked in restrooms, pet relief areas, and other designated areas.
- Security:
- Maintain the security of the premises by ensuring that doors and windows are securely locked and reporting any suspicious activity.
- Compliance:
- Adhere to safety and sanitation standards set by regulatory agencies, as well as follow specific protocols established by Columbus Airport.
- Communication:
- Reporting any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisors, as well as communicating with other staff members regarding cleaning schedules and tasks, is an important part of the role.
- Equipment Care:
- Responsible for maintaining and cleaning their cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mops, and floor buffers, to ensure they remain in good working condition.
- Special Projects:
- Occasionally, Hospitality Team Members may be assigned special projects such as deep cleaning, floor waxing, or assisting with setup for events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: At least one-year prior experience in custodial work.
- Physical Fitness: Candidates should be physically fit and capable of performing the required tasks safely and efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: to ensure that cleaning tasks are performed thoroughly and to a high standard. This includes spotting and addressing areas that require extra cleaning or maintenance.

JOB SUMMARY
The Beverage Cart Attendant position will be responsible for providing prepackaged food and beverages to passengers, vendors, tenants and employees during their visit to the terminal/airport. Provides customers with professional, prompt and friendly service throughout their visit providing a positive first impression of their hometown airport. Attendants are required to clock in on time during scheduled shift, be in clean, neat uniform, and wear visible badge at all times. Hair past collar length must be restrained and no gum chewing. Responsible for assisting with vending machine inventory by ensuring that the supply is sufficient and reporting deficiencies to the Hospitality Supervisor.
The attendant will be responsible for the cleanliness of Columbus Airport’s Propeller’s Sky Bar cart and concessions area by maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of common areas including collecting trash, wiping down tables and chairs. The hospitality schedule is part time, including some weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform daily opening and/or closing inventory. Inventory sheets must be dated, signed and turned in with closing paperwork.
· Must check with Hospitality Supervisor before leaving the property.
· Maintain an inventory sheet that reflects daily sales.
· Check expiration dates on food and beverage products in beverage cart storeroom.
· Rotate and organize products and inform Supervisor to order new product when necessary.
· Confirm cart is fully operational and functioning properly before starting service.
· Keep beverage cart, tables, chairs and common areas clean at all times.
· Serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with Georgia Law.
· Keep beer coolers and snack clips clean, organized and full.
· Must be available to work on major holidays.
· Must attend hospitality meetings and any training classes.
· Follow all Safety guidelines.
· Set up and/or breakdown beverage cart if opening or closing.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED. Certification in one or more trades. At least one year of related experience in performance in concessions. Must be eligible to receive an ABC card to serve alcohol. Must be over 18.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITIES:
· Attention to detail and organization.
· Ability to understand and carry out verbal & written instructions.
· Ability to work weekends, holidays, afternoons and nights.
