Public Safety Officer – Law Enforcement

Columbus Airport Public Safety Officers play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of all employees, travelers, tenants, and visitors. These professionals are entrusted with the responsibility of protecting persons and property from acts of criminal violence and aircraft piracy, while providing vital services in emergency situations. As a Public Safety Officer, you will help safeguard lives, maintain peace, prevent crime, and uphold all relevant laws and ordinances within the airport premises.

Job Duties:

The following is a non-exhaustive list of duties to be performed by a Public Safety Officer – LEO

1. General Police work involving enforcement of all applicable laws, statues, ordinances, rules and regulations pertaining to the safeguarding of property and persons on Columbus Airport premises:

  • Patrolling airport property, writing citations, conducting investigations as it relates to incidents occurring on airport property and completing all required reports, making arrests for criminal activity, providing courtroom testimony, recovering and processing evidence when evidence of a crime is recovered.

2. Responds to airport emergency alarms, including aircraft emergencies, vehicle accidents, medical aid calls, and hazmat incidents.

3. Operates airport emergency equipment vehicles during responses to aircraft rescue emergencies; performs rescue tasks at aircraft emergencies and mishaps; operates specialized equipment for rescue operations.

4. Renders aid and basic life support services.

5. Performs assigned training ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

6. Participates in emergency drills and training courses for emergency incidents other than firefighting.

7. Enforces traffic laws on airport property; perform security patrols.

8. Inspects, cleans, and performs operator level maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.

9. Prepares a variety of reports, logs, inspection results, and related documents; posts and/or forwards to supervisor.

10. Follows training schedules; receives training; maintains personal training records; attends school(s) and training courses as directed.

11. Monitors and operates communication equipment on police, fire, and aviation frequencies.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

· Principles, practices, and procedures of aircraft rescue

· Operation and maintenance of aircraft/rescue equipment and apparatus

· Concepts, components, and procedures of the Incident Command System

· Hazardous materials incident response

· Fire and life safety codes

· Basic life support principles and techniques

Ability to:

· Understand and follow written and oral instructions

· Work safely under hazardous conditions

· Read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance

· Operate standard machines and equipment used in work assignments such as: computers, testing equipment, printers, calculators, copiers, radios, and telephones

· Learn basic life support skills

· Review and interpret maps, diagrams, and mechanical drawings

· Deal courteously and effectively with the general public

· Foster and maintain positive working relationships.

Qualifications:

· Must be a citizen of the United States.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license.

· Must possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.

· Graduation from a state-approved Mandate School or equivalent POST-certified law enforcement training academy is required.

· Minimum of 2 years patrol experience with a certified agency is required.

· Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check

Physical Requirements:

· Physical exertion including standing and regular lifting.

· Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, lift at least 50 pounds, and have the ability to squat, bend, reach, push and pull.

· Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.

Customer Service Representative – Flightways

Flightways FBO at Columbus Airport

Our Customer Service Representatives meet and exceed our customers’ expectations by providing outstanding service to our general aviation guests. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for handling inquiries, coordinating travel and service needs, and other related duties while ensuring a welcoming environment for all guests.

Reports to: Customer Service Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer customer questions, address requests and/or concerns in-person, via e-mail or on the phone
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with customers and visitors
  • Reserve hotel rooms, rental cars or reserve other transportation; order catering as required
  • Coordinate with Line Service Technicians to ensure all customer requests are satisfied
  • Process points of sale transactions for fuel and other goods and services
  • General cleaning of workspace and facilities
  • Lift up to 25lbs, sweep/mop floors, clean restrooms, be able to stoop/bend/kneel for light cleaning duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience in a customer service role is required
  • Knowledge of or experience in the aviation industry is preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
