About Us
The Columbus Airport is centrally located, with quick access to
Uptown Columbus and an easy drive for West Georgia and East Alabama
travellers. The airport prides itself on providing fast and
efficient service, without long lines for security that would be
experienced by passengers boarding in Atlanta. The Airport is
located within minutes of Fort Benning, a self-sustaining military
community in excess of 100,000 military, family members, reserve
component soldiers, retirees, and civilian employees.
Columbus is a vibrant and growing community of 250,000 people.
Besides being the home of the best Army Installation in the World
at Fort Benning, Columbus is the corporate headquarters of many of
the United States' leading companies such as AFLAC Insurance,
Carmike Cinemas, Char-Broil, Synovus, TSYS, and Tom's Snack
Foods.
The Columbus Airport is served by Delta Air Lines and
American Air Lines and its carrier American Eagle. Currently, there
are 100,000 arrivals and boardings annually.
The Airport Commission was created by the state legislature, to
oversee the development of the airport and its facilities. The
Commission is composed of five (5) members, appointed by the City
Council. The airport director supervises daily operations, and the
commission's monthly meetings are open to the public. PDF files of
the monthly minutes can be accessed on the right side bar of this
page.
