- Make a clear pick up plan with your guest. Determine ahead of time to meet in either the Ticket Counter area or in the Baggage Claim area.
- Keep memories safe, by placing undeveloped film and cameras in your carry-on baggage. New screening equipment will damage undeveloped film in your checked baggage.
- When approaching the security checkpoint, travelers should place all metal objects in their carry-on bag, take their laptop computer out of its carrying case, and take off outer coats or jackets.
- For Ease, Convenience and Shorter Lines travel from Regional Airports to avoid long lines and large crowds. Security measures are the same at all airports, but crowd numbers are not.
- Passengers are asked to arrive 1 to 1 1/2 hours before their flight. With new computer systems airlines are not able to print baggage tags 30 minutes prior to a flight's departure.
- Stay organized. Keep items like your ID and ticket in an accessable location. They may be asked for several times.
- Tape your business card to the outside of your laptop. Laptops look alike, and someone may accidentally pick yours up during the screening process.
- Learn your destination's airport code and make sure the correct one gets put on your checked luggage.
- Stay with your luggage at all times. Don't let them out of your sight and don't accept items from people you don't know.
- When traveling with gifts, remember to wrap the gifts after arriving at your destination.
- Avoid packing sharp metal objects in your carry on bag. Items such as knifes, leathermans, razor blades, scissors, and knitting needles should be in your checked baggage.
- Stay Alert! Know your surroundings.
- Allow time for searches. Your car, luggage, and person may be searched at random, please allow time for these activities.
- When traveling if you have questions or concerns, call the airline for a list of their policies and guidelines.
- Keep it simple...call ahead to your destination and see what items the hotel provides, such as blow dryers, razors, shampoo, etc. You may choose to save the space and not travel with these items.
- Switch some of your items with those of a traveling companion. That way if your bags go missing you'll still have some items with you.
- Try to avoid packing valuable, perishable, and fragile items sensitive to heat and cold in your checked baggage. Try storing these items in your carry-on baggage.
- Place a trip itinerary in your luggage so your bags can easily be returned to you.
- Never leave your luggage unattended or take your eyes off your bags. This way you'll be in constant control of your luggage.
- Place a baggage tag with your name, address, and phone number on both the outside and inside of your checked bag.
- When making airlines reservations always give a contact number to the carrier you're flying with.
